EU Structural Funds in Bulgaria. The municipalities as beneficiaries under the Operational Programmes
A detailed study of the regulation of the EU Structural Funds at European and national level from the beginning of the first programme period for Bulgaria (2007–2013). After an introductory chapter on the main characteristics, scope and objectives of EU regional policy, the study turns to the seven Operational Programmes of the Republic of Bulgaria, with an emphasis on the programmes, priorities and operations under which the municipalities are potential beneficiaries. It also contains a brief analysis of the main difficulties Bulgarian municipalities face when preparing EU funded projects, with some ideas on how to overcome them. Finally, it describes the typical project cycle – from the formulation of the project idea, through the evaluation of the project, to its practical implementation.
